1ST INTERNATIONAL CONFERENCE ON HUMANITARIAN ACTION AND COOPERATION FOR DEVELOPMENT
PORTUGAL . PORTO . 17-19 JUNE 2019 . UNIVERSITY FERNANDO PESSOA
The World Humanitarian Summit of May 2016, at the initiative of the United Nations, has shown the urgency of rethinking humanitarian action. Several challenges emerge: the articulation of international and non-governmental organizations, a greater respect for humanitarian norms, and a humanitarian action more linked to perspectives of development. This conference will bring together the various stakeholders to rethink the forms of humanitarian action, both within the usual clusters and in the new areas, such as the use of new technologies. It will be a unique opportunity to share best practices, to build bridges between academic experts and professionals on the ground, at a time when the issues of qualification and quality of humanitarian action are also overriding questions. The conference will not only deal with theoretical issues: in addition to the conventional sessions, it will include workshops on good practice, as well as demonstrations of field preparation training.
